What are the different types of porcelain cladding?
Porcelain is a popular material in general, being used for all sorts of things from pottery to dishes, and most well known for cladding. When the construction industry is using cladding, there are 4 main types of porcelain that they will work with:
• Full body
• Multiple load
• Standard and coloured body
• Twin pressed

Let’s take a look at what makes these types of porcelain cladding different from one another:

Full body

There are many materials that can be used to make porcelains, like clay or sand for example. The selected materials for the batch of porcelain begin made will be blended together, pressed, and then fired so they can get the preferred shape. Full body cladding is really good quality, however, all full body porcelain has a similar standard look to it.

Multiple load

Multiple load cladding is made when raw materials are pressed twice. This type of cladding’s thickness will be made up of a ratio of 25 % noble materials and 75 % speckled materials. While this is a unique process, some people don’t like the appearance because they do not use a glaze.

Standard and coloured body

This is a really attractive type of porcelain that is typically made from clay. It is made by blending the clay and pressing it in a technique that creates textures on the porcelain’s surface.

Twin pressed

Twin pressed porcelain has a unique look that comes off as 3D. As the name suggests, this porcelain is pressed twice. The first layer to be pressed is made of different coloured minerals. Once that is pressed, the second layer will add glaze to the body for the second press. This creates a very appealing look that is high in demand.

What kind of porcelain cladding you should get
Porcelain cladding is well worth the investment because it will last for nearly a lifetime. Choosing the right porcelain cladding will depend on your budget and the look you want. While twin pressed is one of the most eye-catching types of porcelain cladding, it’s also the most expensive.

Standard coloured and body is the least expensive type of porcelain cladding and it’s still very attractive and high-quality. One thing to keep in mind is that porcelain is graded by how durable it is. Grade 1 is the least durable, while grade 5 is the strongest. Always use a grade 5 porcelain cladding for your home.
