TIMBER CLADDING

Timber is one of the most cost effective, naturally attractive and durable cladding materials available on the market. Its lightweight, easy to install and has excellent environmental and insulation properties, it’s no wonder timber cladding is a popular choice for Commercial projects.

Why Use Timber Cladding?
Benefits –
Economic / Naturally Attractive / Durable / Environmentally Friendly / Thermal Efficient / Wide Choice of Species, Densities, Colours, Strengths & Sizes / Waste Efficient/ Sustainable

Disadvantages –
Maintenance / Colour Change / Natural Deterioration
I love the look of timber once first installed but, I don’t like it when it goes silver/grey or black, do you have a low maintenance option?’

This is a common question we are asked by many Architects and Developers & Building Owners, and in partnership with NORclad, we have developed a unique solution –

THE “BRUNNEA” TREATMENT PROCESS
The Koppers Microshades treatment process impregnates wood cladding with a blend of MicroPro preservative and Microshades “Brunnea” pigment. To date, in exposure trials, we would expect the appearance of Microshades “Brunnea” treated wood to enrich after initial exposure.

SOLUTION

NORCLAD MICROSHADES TREATED TIMBER:

• HOLDS COLOUR LONGER THAN SIMILAR PRODUCTS
• CONSISTENTLY ENRICHES OVER TIME
• LITTLE OR NO MAINTENANCE REQUIRED
• 30-YEAR WARRANTY AGAINST ROT AND FUNGAL DECAY (OUT OF GROUND CONTACT) WITH SERVICE LIFE OF 50 YEARS
• SUSTAINABLE, AND GREENGUARD CERTIFIED (VOC) FOR SCHOOLS
• PROTECTION AGAINST ATTACK BY WOOD BORING BEETLES OR TERMITES
• COMMONLY APPLIED TO REDWOOD, CAN ALSO BE APPLIED TO OTHER SPECIES E.G. LARCH AND CEDAR

BEAUTIFUL COLOUR

The Brunnea colour and its intensity will then remain relatively consistent for a period of up to 2 years, depending on exposure aspect.

Beyond this point, the colour of the timber cladding will fade gradually and evenly. The rate of fade will be totally determined by exposure conditions.

We offer a wide range of timber species, all of which are suitable for timber cladding.

EUROPEAN STANDARDS

All our cladding products conform to the new European Standards regarding quality of timber (exposed surfaces):

To EN 14915/EN15146/EN 14519

Our timber cladding is produced in accordance with factory production control for the selection, grading, machining and preservative treatment of solid wood cladding.

EUROPEAN REDWOOD: is a very popular for timber cladding, it is also known as Scots Pine. European Redwood is imported from Scandinavia. We have 3 Different Grades Available A+, A & B Grades.

SIBERIAN LARCH: is a durable timber with the sapwood omitted. It is a slow grown high density, softwood with a colour that ranges from a light straw yellow to a gold/brown in the heartwood area. We have 3 Different Grades Available A+, A & B Grades.

WESTERN RED CEDAR: is a durable timber, which will colour down to a silver/grey colour if it is not protected as soon as installation is complete. A good quality, semi or fully translucent UV-radiation protective coating, such as Microshades Brunnea is an excellent option. We have 2 Different Grades available WRC 2 Clear & Better & WRC 2 Clear & Better 15% 4 Clear.

BRITISH LARCH: is an indigenous timber which grows in various parts of Britain. It gives an improved carbon footprint to local projects and developments over Siberian Larch. Compared to Siberian Larch, British grown Larch is typically warmer in appearance having a rich heartwood colour, it has a greater number of knots and perhaps more grain character.
